Kennel Technician
As a Kennel Technician, you’ll play a vital role in the well-being and happiness of our furry guests. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing attentive care, including feeding, walking, and administering medications as needed.
- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in kennel areas and common spaces.
- Monitoring pets for any signs of distress or illness, and promptly notifying supervisory staff.
- Engaging in playtime and enrichment activities to keep pets mentally and physically stimulated.
- Assisting with grooming tasks such as bathing, drying and toenail trims.

Veterinary Receptionist
Our veterinary receptionist team is responsible for the front line of our hospital. We welcome candidates that are friendly, team players, and great at multitasking in a fast paced environment with pristine customer service. Your responsibilities will include:
- Greeting our clients with a smile
- Handling a very busy multi-line phone system.
- Responding, fielding, and coordinating client inquiries and appointment requests by phone, text, and email.
- Checking in and checking out pets from multiple departments in the hospital.
- Maintaining medical records, processing payments, and communicating effectively with both clients and other staff members.

Veterinary Assistant
Are you passionate about animal care and eager to support a dedicated veterinary team? We welcome candidates who are efficient and motivated in the veterinary field currently. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with exams, treatments and procedures including preparing exam rooms and appropriate animal restraint.
- Administer medications and collect and prepare laboratory samples.
- Educate owners on vaccines, preventatives, and other veterinary pet care recommendations.
- General cleaning and sterilization of equipment and exam rooms.
- Maintain accurate medical records and patient information, as well as excellent communication with other staff members.

Veterinary Technicians
Are you currently a licensed veterinary technician looking to be a part of a compassionate and professional team dedicated to the well-being of pets and their families? Then please reach out to Dumfries Animal Hospital! Your responsibilities would include:
- Assist veterinarians with exams, surgeries, and medical procedures.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments.
- Monitor anesthesia and assist during surgeries.
- Collect and process laboratory samples.
- Maintain accurate medical records.
- Educate pet owners on care and post-treatment instructions.
Associate Veterinarian
Are you a DVM looking for a clinic with a positive and collaborative environment? Look no further! We strive to practice a high standard of medicine together with our veterinary team, and work with clients to provide the best care for their dogs and cats. Both new graduates and experienced doctors are welcome! New graduates will benefit from our formalized mentorship program to help guide them as they take on new responsibilities. Employee quality of life is important to us, and we have a four-day work week with flexible scheduling and no on-call. Responsibilities include:
- Providing routine wellness and preventative care for patients
- Discussing diagnoses and walking clients through treatment options
- Working with LVTs and veterinary assistants to providing treatments for patients
- Performing routine surgeries and dental procedures
- Maintaining accurate medical records (scribe optional)
- Consulting with specialists and/or making referrals when needed for complex cases
Veterinary Students Externship
We are excited to offer externships of 1-3 weeks to 2nd-4th year veterinary students! Our goal is to invest in future veterinarians by allowing them to participate in the workings of our busy small animal hospital. Externs will have the opportunity to observe and learn with multiple doctors throughout their experience at DAH. Common cases include wellness and sick visits, surgeries, and dental procedures. Stipend available upon request.
